"Thanking Angels" was started in 2009 by 20 year old Kim Hare. After her single mom was diagnosed with breast cancer, Kim chose to leave school and move back home to care for her mother. While Kim's mom went through chemotherapy, she suddenly gained all responsibilty not only of her mother's health, but household chores and bills as well. Luckily, Kim's family stepped in on the weekends so that she could travel back to school to visit friends and "refuel" for the upcoming week. Kim quickly realized that many families were not as lucky. By nominating a deserving caregiver or making a donation to "Thanking Angels", we will be able to pinpoint and meet the needs of these caregivers. Each month we will choose one caregiver that will have a day designed for them. We will hire a nurse to care for their loved one while they have time to relax.
Caregivers are the backbone to every patient. We believe that by showing these caregivers appreciation and giving them a place to meet other caregivers, we will be directly impacting the care and health of cancer patients. | Men and women across the globe devote their lives to caring for their loved ones battling with cancer. Often times, they are unable to set time aside for themselves- leaving them worn out. Caregivers play a vital role in the well being of cancer patients. By giving these caregivers support and appreciation, it will hopefully empower them to continue doing all they can to help their loved ones fight their battles with cancer.
